For eighteen years Pro Medicus has been recognised as a major developer
of software and IT solutions and provider of ancillary products, hardware
and services to the healthcare industry.
Established in 1983 by Dr Sam Hupert, a general medical practitioner,
and Anthony Hall, an award-wining software engineer, Pro Medicus
aimed to provide a class-leading range of products and services to address
the specific IT needs of the healthcare industry.
Pro Medicus now provides healthcare IT solutions to large corporate groups,
such as Mayne Health and Medical Imaging Australasia Ltd, specialist physicians
and surgeons, GPs and allied health professionals.
Our suite of products comprises our "core" applications and
e-health offerings. We also provide comprehensive services in network
design and structure, training, hardware configuration and technical support.
Core Applications
Our core applications comprise a comprehensive infrastructure
for all practice operations ranging from medical accounting, clinical
reporting and appointments management through to electronic Medicare communication,
marketing and information management functions. Central to this infrastructure
is the Practice Management System. From here clients can make use of our
value-added products which include the Appointments System, Management
Information System and Medclaims EDI module.
E-health Framework
Pro Medicus has fortified its position and strength in health
informatics with the development of an e-health, Internet-based framework,
promedicus.net.
The first product on this network is the Promedicus.net
Secure Email System.
This revolutionary system enables referring doctors and medical practices
to receive encrypted clinical reports, via the Internet, to a centralised
"In-Tray" run on a doctors computer.
Pro Medicus logs and fully manages the process from departure to receipt
of the reports, aiding duty-of-care requirements and providing added reliability.
The timely and secure electronic delivery of clinical results is expected
to significantly improve service and care received by patients. This is
in line with the Governments agenda to vastly improve IT in the
healthcare sector.
