ProMed Clinical Speeds up GP Desktop
Pro Medicus (ASX:PME) today announced that practices switching to its new clinical desktop software ProMed Clinical have experienced significant speed and reliability improvements as compared to the clinical desktop product they were previously using. Midtown Medical Clinic, a busy, high profile central Melbourne practice of 11 doctors recently chose to move to ProMed Clinical after a thorough review of available GP script writing and clinical desktop products. Managing partner, prominent sports physician and GP, Dr Philip Perlstein, cited data processing speed and system reliability as the major factors that convinced them to switch to ProMed Clinical. "ProMed Clinical is easy to use and transferring our existing data across to it was absolutely painless, but it was its speed and reliability that totally won us over," Dr Perlstein said. "With our previous GP desktop system we could wait anywhere between 10 and 40 seconds for certain screens to appear despite the fact that we had recently made a significant investment in upgrading our IT infrastructure. Other times the system would get overloaded and crash." "Running ProMed Clinical on the same network, the screen to screen changeover is almost instantaneous and we haven't had a single crash to date. When you see the number of patients a GP sees in a day, speed and reliability of the system are paramount. We don't have to wait and most importantly, neither do our patients." Pro Medicus acquired the ProMed Clinical technology in March of this year after a long search to find a high quality clinical desktop product that would complement its other medical IT products and leverage the user base of over 16,000 Australian doctors who currently use promedicus.net the company's e-health network. According to Pro Medicus CEO, Dr Sam Hupert, part of the product evaluation process was to have ProMed Clinical independently benchmarked by RMIT Test Lab, which showed that in some instances the product was 700% faster than a major competitor's on exactly the same hardware. "We see the speed and reliability of ProMed clinical as huge competitive advantages. Until now, GPs have been forced into spending large amounts of their income regularly upgrading their IT infrastructure in order to maintain acceptable performance of their clinical products. With ProMed Clinical they can, in most cases keep their hardware yet still get the performance they require. This has a major impact in reducing the total cost of ownership of our systems making ProMed Clinical arguably the most cost-effective package on the market." For more information:
