Digital Radiology Efficiencies Drive Pro Medicus Client Expansion
Lake
was the first private radiology provider in Australia to transition from
film-based technology to a fully digital environment, when it converted
its two Ballarat practices in late 2002. Having realised efficiency savings
of more than 30% with the Ballarat conversions, Lake also converted practices
at Melton and Baccus Marsh in Melbournes western growth corridor
early this year. Pro Medicus managing director Dr Sam Hupert said The Lake Imaging experience validates the substantial efficiency benefits to be gained from our digital radiology solution and demonstrates how readily scaleable it is. We believe we can offer the same advantages to radiology providers of all sizes from single site operators to the large corporates, who now run 300 or more sites as a result of industry consolidation. "Converting to digital imaging has given us a distinct competitive advantage, said Lake Imaging partner John Livingston. We have a highly efficient and reproducible business model and can offer clinical benefits to patients and referring doctors that other providers cannot do with analogue technology. The new Geelong practice, which incorporates the full suite of Pro Medicus practice management and digital imaging solutions, will be the only radiology provider able to electronically deliver results and images to referrers in the area.
