Pro Medicus makes Digital Imaging sale to
Mayne

Pro Medicus Limited (ASX:PME) announced today that it has signed a deal to provide its full suite of digital imaging integration products to the radiology department at Knox Private Hospital, a flagship Mayne (ASX:MAY) Diagnostic Imaging practice. Once installed, the Knox practice will become Australia’s first fully digital private hospital radiology department.

The products, developed as part of the alliance with global health care imaging company Agfa, fully integrate Pro Medicus Practice Management and Appointments systems to a wide range of state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging equipment.

“Digital imaging is a key growth driver for our company. This deal is therefore extremely significant for us being our first digital imaging sale to one of the largest corporate radiology groups in the country and adds to the recent successes we have had with our digital offering in both the private and public sectors” said Dr Sam Hupert, Pro Medicus CEO. “Knox is one of Mayne’s busiest and fastest growing practices. It is the ideal site for Mayne to experience
the benefits of our technology first-hand.”

“We believe this is the right technology at the right time as the radiology industry continues its focus on operating margins. Clients who have used our digital integration solution have been able to achieve very significant productivity improvements for radiologists and technicians as well as increased utilisation of high capital cost equipment. These represent the bulk of radiology practice costs.”

The digital imaging market in Australia is conservatively estimated to be worth in excess of $100 million over the next three years as the radiology industry looks to re-engineer itself to take advantage of the significant productivity and cost savings this technology offers. Additional drivers for this change are new technologies such as multi-slice CT scanners that generate significantly larger numbers of images per examination and therefore make printed film an impractical option.

"This technology is set to revolutionise the radiology industry by creating the first significant changes to workflow since the advent of x-ray film" said Dr Hupert. “We are ideally positioned to be a key player in this process being the first to market with a fully integrated offering that has exceeded original expectations in terms of the benefits it can produce. This, our first sale to one of Australia's largest corporate radiology groups, is a significant milestone for us and one that cements our leadership position in this market.”
