More growth milestones for Pro Medicus e-health

• Over 14,000 Australian Doctors now on network
• More than 5 million transactions delivered
• E-health revenue up by more than 30% over previous year

The strong growth in promedicus.net, the on-line service of Australia’s leading medical ITand e-health provider Pro Medicus Limited (ASX:PME) continues with the announcement today that in excess of 14,200 Australian doctors are now registered with the service which has delivered more than five million secure e-health transactions to doctors throughout Australia.

Promedicus.net delivered around $2 million sales revenue in 2003 for the company, an increase of over 30% since 2002.

Promedicus.net derives the core of it income from transactions with additional revenue coming from new doctor registrations and ongoing network subscriptions. To date cost revenue has come from the secure transmission of diagnostic results from radiologists. The recently launched Specialist Report Sender software has the potential to significantly increase the market for promedicus.net by opening the network to the majority of Australia's 16,500 specialists. Early take-up of this new software by specialists has been strong.

Pro Medicus CEO Dr Sam Hupert said, “Our e-health business keeps expanding with no signs of a slow down in the number of doctors signing up for our service. This is being driven by the increasing number of doctors who are computerising their practices as well as government incentives aimed at making the entire health system more efficient through the intelligent use of IT. With the volume of e-health transactions in Australia forecast to grow well in excess of 15% per annum we see very significant upside in this business."

This will allow us to extract some of the inherent value in our existing network and will further cement our position as the leading e-health provider in Australia. “

Promedicus.net was designed with an eye to growth. The network has the capacity to handle significant increases in transaction volume with no change in technology or infrastructure.

As well as the expected continued growth in both doctor and traditional transaction numbers, Dr Hupert sees additional growth opportunities for promedicus.net in the coming year. “We are now looking at delivering electronic referrals via our network which is a logical extension to our results delivery system. We have also built in the ability to access digital x-rays via promedicus.net. This is a key component to our digital imaging strategy which is starting to take off with recent sales of our digital products in both the public and private health sectors,” he said.
