Pro Medicus targets specialist e-health market
Previously, only health providers who used Pro Medicus Practice Management software could send results via promedicus.net, the companys e-health network with the majority of the 4 million plus transactions processed to date coming from radiology providers. Specialist Report Sender now opens the way for the 16,500 Australian specialist physicians and surgeons to access this growing network of over 13,000 doctors regardless of their choice of practice management systems. There is mounting pressure from the 20,000 plus GPs in Australia for a solution to the growing problem of filing the large number of specialist letters they receive daily, said Pro Medicus CEO Dr Sam Hupert. Currently, the only way they can include these letters into their clinical records is to scan them in one at a time. Our new technology overcomes this problem by allowing specialists to seamlessly and cost effectively tap into the promedicus.net network without any additional investment in their existing IT platforms. For a price comparable to sending a letter by normal mail, promedicus.net is able to electronically deliver specialists letters to their referrers with the added advantage of having these automatically filed into the GPs clinical system. This is far more efficient, reliable and cost effective than scanning. Opening up promedicus.net to 16,500 specialists clearly helps us unlock some of the inherent value in our network and provides us with substantial upside for our e-health business. We are already Australia's leading e-health provider and have a highly scalable infrastructure in place that allows us to handle much larger transaction volumes at little or no increase in our cost base Dr Hupert said. This new product will help us build on this lead and opens the way for other health providers to use promedicus.net assisting them in providing improved levels of service and patient care.
