Promedicus.net Framework

Promedicus.net is the domain name that propels you into the world of e-health. It is the framework for an expanding range of electronic medical initiatives to service the rapidly growing doctor-to-doctor and doctor-to-patient opportunities.

The Promedicus.net Secure Email System is the first e-health initiative to be launched under this banner. It successfully and securely links diagnostic service providers and their referrers.

Registration with Promedicus.net provides users with our icon:

This opens the gateway to a range of prospective e-health initiatives such as
e-appointments™, Electronic Health Records(EHRs) and Personal Medical Records (PMRs).

Our vision is to provide requests and confirmation for medical appointments over the Internet. Referrers will be informed of patients who miss appointments, aiding duty-of-care requirements, and patient information can be disseminated at booking which can assist adequate test preparation. E
-appointments will provide a conduit between referrers, diagnostic services and their patients.

Electronic Health Records are on the Federal Government’s current agenda, with health ministers forming a taskforce to plan and organise their inception. They have stated:

"Currently, the majority of healthcare records in Australia exist as discrete paper-based entities held at a variety of different locations, resulting in a fragmented picture of individuals’ health needs and health histories. Increasingly, the potential of electronic health records in improving efficiency, safety and quality of care over paper-base systems is being recognised across the health sector." 1

As part of this initiative the Government has proposed a $440 million National Health Information Network, committed to the development of a patient controlled health information network.

An extension of the EHR idea is a patient controlled PMR that can contain medical information from a variety of sources. Pro Medicus believes e-reports™ would be an integral part of any EHR and we have a strategy to assist this transition.
